New Hybrid Flowers

A new hybrid in flower today

A new hybrid created by Antony Wren has flowered for the first time even though the seed was only set in April this year!
The parentage is P. violacea X P.caerulea although the exact form of caerulea is unknown. The flower is more pink in colour than other plants with the same parentage.

At the moment there is just the one plant and it has not yet been given a name...

Ladybird Dream? or Cary

For the first time we had a Ladybird Dream? flower today. I think its Passiflora Cary though, thats what happens a lot in packages of 3 or 4 passionflowers you dont end up with what is listed or labelled.

New Flower today

Here is a new hybrid in flower, i missed the first flower a few weeks ago, and that flower is now producing a seed pod.

This is Jayne T x Lucy Zara so is the following (capsularis x conzattiana) x (conzattiana x citrina). Looks like a small Debbie Marie Hescott.

Happy New Passiflora Year

This year is looking if it will be a good one. With the mild winter we have had, some of our passiflora has already started to grow and shoot. Most of the species and hybrids we have have survived so far. A new hybrid P. conzattiana x P. "Becky Speed" has come up from seed and looks healthy, it should have a good flower, hopefully similar to P. "Palomas Delight". The status of P. "Becky Speed" though is not good, with less than 5 healthy plants or cuttings.

Passiflora "Becky Speed" cuttings .                                          A. Wren

Will add a few more pictures to this blog, as things start to flower. A Visit to Kew will happen in February too.
